On December 17, UT Charter celebrated an exceptional day of achievement as two Laurel Ridge high school students earned their diplomas, and CEO Ashley Sacriste was honored with a special doctoral presentation.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone for Laurel Ridge CEO Sacriste, who recently earned her Doctorate in Healthcare Administration (DHA) from Oklahoma State University. Although she could not attend her official graduation, Laurel Ridge staff and UT Charter Principal Maricela De La Cruz, Ed.D., ensured she was celebrated in style. As part of the event, Dr. Sacriste’s hood—a symbol of academic achievement—was presented by her husband, and her diploma was conferred by UT Charter Assistant Superintendent Autumn Leal. Ed.D.
Dr. De La Cruz used this moment to educate attendees about the significance of earning a doctorate. “Only 2% of the U.S. population holds a doctorate, and of those, only 1% are Hispanic females,” she shared. “As two fellow ‘doctoras’ to another, Dr. Leal and I proudly welcome Dr. Sacriste into the 1% club.”
Graduations at UT Charter are always heartfelt celebrations, and this one was particularly special. Due to the transitional nature of the student body, teachers and staff rarely witness students’ journeys from start to finish. This year, UT Charter faculty had gotten to know one of the graduates over the last four years. His growth and perseverance culminated in this proud moment, as he prepares to enlist in the Army to serve his country.
The second graduate is equally inspiring; she has already enrolled in community college and is pursuing a nursing degree. Both exemplify the resilience and determination that UT Charter aims to nurture in its students.
We congratulate the graduates on their educational achievements and we hope you always find opportunities to learn and grow.
