Our employees enjoy the benefits of employment with The University of Texas-Austin while serving school-aged children in unique settings across the state. We provide extensive staff development and support and have high expectations for our employees. UT-UCS follows both Texas Administrative Code Assignment Rules and Federal No Child Left Behind Highly Qualified requirements when hiring and placing teachers. UT-UCS teachers are expected to have Special Education certification in addition to content area certification. English as a Second Language certification is preferred. While UT-UCS does hire participants of Alternatice certification programs, teachers with standard certification and successful classroom experience are preferred. Some employees may be required to maintain restraint/containment certification. While UT-UCS does not require it, some of partner facilities do require Tuberculosis (TB) and/or Drug testing prior to employment.
